“Theosophy asks every one to reflect whether to give way to the animal below or look up to, and be governed by the God within.”

An older & more comprehensive glossary of terms found throughout the expanse of theosophical literature.
“Causeless Cause”
“Every Cause must give rise to an Effect.” This is the most fundamental of the Universal Truths. “ Where there is Pattern, there must be an Intelligence driving & directing such.” This too is a fundamental & universal truth about Nature. The Causeless Cause, also known as ‘The Rootless Root,’ represents an Effect to which we CAN NOT, nor could we ever know the Cause. It is an effect that seems to pervade all life, a pattern readily and easily seen throughout nature. Thus, the causeless cause represents an intelligence far more grand than any mere human, but of which we are all derived from, or if you prefer…we humans are the Material & Spiritual effect of “The Causeless Cause.” This phenomenon of nature is without doubt the primordial source of every religion’s notion of AND/OR belief in a God or Gods (Celestial Intelligence)…the source of all creation…undebatable.
atma
Atma or Atman, is the universal spirit principle that exist in every corner of space that we as humans can conceive of. This includes the smallest particles modern scientist can ever discover, energy in all forms, and the infinite expanse we call “The Universe”… and then again its also nothing…because it must be.
Looking at the previous entry, that which we call “The Causeless Cause,” the question must be asked…”Is it Atma?” The Spiraling Effect that we commonly witness throughout the natural phenomena of growth ARE THE EFFECTS OF ATMA. That which is behind the effect or the Cause of those effect is considered Atma. Behind those causes we can only contemplate but without we can witness that IT IS…which is all we can truly say about the Atma Principle.
architect (intj)
Coined as “The Master Builder,” INTJ’s are truth seekers. These personalities are fairly rare, consisting of around 1% of the global population. It should not come as a surprise that many of these “Architects,” shun most religions as they have a tendency to pick apart most ideas and constructs with their solid command of logic and reason. This is not meant to be destructive, but is done for the sake of thorough examination and understanding. I am an “Architect” in such of other “Architects.” That is why I included this entry into this glossary.
8th sphere
The Eight Sphere is generally considered a taboo or forbidden subject in our philosophy. That is until the point where it can no longer be denied. Every cyclical change of matter or energy will generally have two outputs. Something that was improved upon and something to be discarded or left behind. Such an example in our philosophy has to deal with primates. We don’t believe that man evolved from apes; however, we do believe that we (apes and humans) were members of the same spiritual evolution. The monads that evolved from that spiritual split manifested in matter as humans. The monads that were not ready to evolve into men manifested in matter as apes. Thus when this set (group consciousness) of humans evolves into a more spiritual and energetic form (higher frequency)…the space and niche we evacuate will be filled by the primates and they will become the new humans.
The Eight Sphere is philosophical concept of Theosophy that is generally regarded as “a garbage heap.” Between The Kamaic Age (Age of Desire) and Manasaic Age (Age of Wisdom)…this “Garbage Heap” is imparted with desire…and intelligence…the precursors to intent. Rejected…and envious are two of the most obvious attribute that could be used to describe this intent. This concept is the origination of The Story of Lucifer, jealous of God and his ultimate creation…Man. Or the story of The Jinn…if you prefer the Islamic version. Whichever version you prefer…the rejected entities regarded Man as inferior, refused to bow, and swore retaliation against Mankind.
The Eight Sphere is not Myalba nor is The Eight Sphere is not Avitchi; however, it is closely related to the two. The Eight Sphere is a necessary part of the Septenary up to and until certain events have come to pass. It is associated with The Earth’s Moon…the disappearance of which will mark the dissolution of the Eight Sphere (in regards to our group only).
arhat
Arhat means “perfected one” or “one who is worthy.” It is a prerequisite designation given to those who are well along the path to Moksha or “obligatory liberation from the cycle of births and deaths.” An Arhat is a being that has perfected his Karma, meaning he/she has balanced his actions in that he/she owes nor is owed any Karma…good or bad. Karma is what keeps a human monad linked & bound to the material world.
The first step in achieving moksha is the intent to be free which will manifest into the desire to do such. This balancing act takes many lifetimes. Without the knowledge of Moksha, a being could never achieve such a thing. Without knowledge of reincarnation, Moksha is an impossibility. So an Arhat is a monad in material form on his way to Buddahood. Having committed to the path of Moksha some many lives ago, his or her karma has come into balance. Having done so, upon his or her next death, they will no longer be obligated to return to Earth life due to karmic fetters. They may choose to return to Earth life as many do. They do this to help those still struggling and to help the world. This selfless behavior is what allows them to approach the “Pavillion of Truth,” and thus they are deemed “One Who is Worthy.” Worthy of graduation.
Aura
Aura is a term that gets thrown around a lot. Aura is always intuited, but can be sensed I suppose by any of the five other sense. Most often people associate Aura with sight (we have become visually dependent in our evolution) but, it is perfectly reasonable that it can also be felt, heard, smelled or tasted. All of which depends upon the evolution of the monad perceiving such.
Aura quite simply is the light of The Trinity (Atma, Buddhi & Higher Mana) reflected off of the The Quaternary (Lower Mana, Linga Sarira Kama, Prana & Sthula Sarira). Just as physical light from the sun reflect off of material objects allowing us to see…Aura is the same. The Higher part of us reflects itself into this vehicle we call a body and Aura is an effect that can be perceived by those who have developed these inner faculties of perception…often in previous lives. What is learned and achieved by the monad…can not be unlearned, but may only lay dormant until a time of awakening.
avichi
A Sanskrit word meaning “Without Waves,” or “The Waveless.” This word has a few contextual meanings, so we shall start with the broadest, most general aspect. Avichi is basically the polar opposite of Devachan. Where Devachan is representative of “rest” for the reincarnating being,” Avichi would be considered “torment” for the reincarnating being.” Avichi is a “hell” of sorts, however, this hell is not a locality or a destination. Avichi follows the reincarnating being and the tortures involved are of a mental state only.
Generally speaking the progress of a monad is forward moving or ascending; however, Avichi represents a descending or degrading progress of the monad. The state of Avichi does not happen accidentally, it is the result of consistent choices to perform evil, selfish, nefarious deeds spanning the scope of many lives. The Christian Hell is thought to be a finality, Avichi is a state of being and is quite reversible.
Since Avichi is not a locality but a mental state, then Avichi must exist here on the earthly plane. A being who is in this state may thus be classified as an “Avichi,” or “The Waveless.” Having Dedicated many lives to evil and willfully severed their link to Atma; these Avichi do not reflect the light of the universal soul / consciousness (atma). This observation is why they have deemed “without waves,” by those who can “see.” If you have ever encountered a person that just gave you the creeps and you really couldn’t explain why, but you just had a feeling…you were probably in the presence of an Avichi. I have read that there are four major acts that will cause a monad to enter Avichi. They are as follows:
Murder of your Father (God)
Murder of your Mother (Earth)
Harming or Killing an Arhat (Teacher)
Acting against the Dharma (Moral Force) of the World (Perpetuating Misery)
The earth (mother) is a living being (monad) and we humans (monads) are derivatives of that living matrix, if the earth dies we can not live. According to our philosophy, The Moon is representative of the Previous Earth…does it look alive? Is it teeming with life? No it is not…it is dead.
The “aurora borealis” is the aura of the Earth. At the Earth’s poles light is absorbed less by the planet and much of it is reflected, allowing this light effect to be easily seen there. The moon (8th Sphere) has no Aura, thus the moon is considered the source of Avichi power. Think of all the stories and fables that involve the moon…werewolves, witches, rituals.
Here is an example of a real world Avichi. How would you explain this “so called mystery?” While the spectrum of souls in the state of “Avichi” is just a wide as the variety of human consciousness; the very worst & most dangerous instantiation of avichi is a “failed adept,” of our philosophy. Yet Even more frightening is a Cohesive collective of these “fallen adepts.”
buddhi
“To Be Awake,” “To Understand,” “To Know”…these are all translations of the root word of Buddhi, which is ‘budh.’ This awakening, understanding and knowledge has solely to do with Atma. Buddhi is the Self Awareness of Atma. The simplest way to understand this concept is through the sleep analogy. The following analogy is a simple one and will be limited to the material world aspect.
When you are “awake,” you are aware of your surroundings. You are actively and constantly experiencing sensation through your body vehicle. When you are asleep, you still are, you still exist but you are not aware (or not as aware) and are not fully utilizing this sensation machine we call bodies. The truth be told, the monad that sleeps (I would have to believe all monads sleep in some form) is still aware…how else could you explain dreams. The dreaming awareness is different from the waking awareness. Most of what people deem psychic knowledge is gathered through the dreaming awareness…not the waking awareness.
An example of buddhi in life can easily be seen through seeds and plants. A seed (Atma) is plant to be, a plant that is lying dormant…unaware and without action. The plant does however have intelligence (Mana) just as all monads do. When the seed receives the proper stimuli of soil, light and water (buddhi) it awakens and then Mana takes over and the seed mechanism (Prana) go about building a plant.
Why is it a rose bush never grows turnips? DNA? True enough but that doesn’t explain why…DNA explains how. Why do humans never give birth to dinosaurs? The intelligence of Mana inside each monad dictates what that specific monad will be when it manifest inside the material world. As human beings we were once stone, minerals…where do you think bones came from. As human beings we traveled through the plant realm…we share mitochondria with plants. Why is that some animals (all primates) have an appendix and some don’t? Mana dictates evolution…nothing else. Again I will state one of our most fundamental truths…Where there is pattern, there is most certainly an intelligence driving it.
Atma and Buddhi are practically indivisible. Atma can not be perceived or even understood really because we are shielded from it by the Buddhi principle. Always…always anything we perceive as Atma is actually the vehicle “Buddhi”. I have come to see Buddhi not in terms of energy or matter (though it is both) but in terms of stimuli that compel awakening in monads
Cambion
I would love to believe this was pure fantasy, but the more I learn of Theosophy…the more I become convinced in its truth (at least some of it). While it may sound fantastical, from what I have learned about possession/hypnotism, “The Dweller,” and “The Black Brotherhood,” creation of cambions would seem to be a very likely goal for “Black Occultist.”
A Cambion is a vessel for receiving and holding “consciousness,” just as a human body does the same. Physically speaking a cambion is a human body the same as any other, the difference lies in what is inside the vessel. Normal human bodies are inhabited by monads participating in the reincarnation process, which are evolving towards their immortal state. Cambions however are “artificial” bodies so to speak. Certain monads that have turned away from Spirituality and completely embraced Materiality are the would be inhabitants of a Cambion…these specific few monads we call “The Black Brotherhood.”
Once “The Trinity” (Atma, Buddhi, Higher Mana) has split away or better yet abandoned the “Human Monad”…Lower Mana (Personality) becomes enthroned in the human form. This happens when the Immortal Self turns away from the Mortal Self. This is not accidental…it is a very intentional choice to pursue life in matter only…abandoning the spiritual path. These being enter a state of Avichi. All members of “The Black Brotherhood” are Avichi, but not every being in Avichi is a member of “The Black Brotherhood” of “The Black” for short.
To be forthcoming, members of “The Black” are indeed masters of matter. They are quite capable of cheating death…that is persisting in life by passing their consciousness from monad to monad…”hitch hiking” There is no limit to the scope of this power for them…they may transfer to objects/monads such as jewelry (objects of opulence are their favorite landing location), certain large trees (small plants they typically avoid), swarms of insects, animals and humans. It is they who possess humans…and they do it all the time.
Possession is merely a form of hypnotism; thus it is a state of being. Possession can be broken and undone. Members of “The Black” have free reign to terrorize objects beneath the human level because the “Will” of these monads is not fully developed. To enter and exert control over a monad…like everything else…requires energy. Possessing a human is much more difficult…this is why they must work in groups to do such. Since they are barred from re-entering life through reincarnation…they use every crafty means at their disposal…a cambion being the ultimate…a child born to be possessed. Very sinister indeed.
Since we are on this subject…and in case you haven’t noticed children and sorrowful lonely people are easy target for possession. I thought you should know.
devachan
“The One Truth,” “The One Reality” is the only thing that is permanent, persistent and immutable in The Cosmos (The Entirety of Universes), everything else is in a constant state of change. This is perceivable to we humans in the effects of Time.
Devachan is a state of change for monads. It represents a shift from the material world into the spiritual world. Devachan occurs after the monad has left it’s material vehicle. Children often ask do their beloved pets go to heaven when they pass away. The answer is yes, of course. The majority of monads save a few pass into Devachan. All monads beneath the human level ALWAYS experience a Devachan. Only human monads or above may refuse Devachan.
Devachan is an illusion…just as this reality is an illusion. When we say “illusion,” we don’t mean imaginary as most people would construe. We do mean it (reality) is temporary, malleable, dynamic and mutable. This of course is in comparison to “The One Truth,” which never changes. “The One Truth” is like a stage for plays. The fundamental structure of the stage does not change. The scenery of the stage (Nature) may change from prop to prop. On the stage, many different stories (Drama of The Soul) can be told. All of this takes place over time. You see without the construct of Atma/Cosmos (the stage) the production could not be experienced. This is why we say “Nature exist for the drama of The Soul.”
Atomic, Mineral, Plant and Animal Devachans are fairly automatic in nature, basically evolving monads cyclically into human monads. If you look at the Golden Mean, you may begin to understand that this process is both cyclical and linear in its nature. We will discuss here the human monad and it’s Devachan.
When a person dies, the spirit must unshackle from the body. This is done by recapitulation or re-living the life experience. The timeline that was your life is being unwrapped from its vehicle. This process is of course filled with joy, sadness and regret. Memories being re-lived as we say goodbye to our temporary fellow actors. The people you miss as well as karmic obligation are what attract a monad back to material life.
Devachan is where unrealized dreams and aspiration are played out. It is a dream-like state where aspirations are renewed and intent developed. Everything that went wrong in material life, that one may wish went another way, will happen perfectly in Devachan. Nothing goes wrong in Devachan…it is perfect fantasy…a dreaming cocoon that surrounds the monad. This dream is where lessons are learned by the “The Trinity” of a human monad. When the soul has rested, just as the body sleep, it will be born again to fulfill the experiences it dreamed in Devachan.

Eidolon
A general term used to apply to any “specter-like” form. that which resembles anything humanoid in vague or specific characterization, but without or lacking a physical form...a projection. this would include a variety of conditions and names; however, they are all derived from the “astral Principle” (Linga Sarira) or “astral Wavelength/frequency” if you prefer a term more scientific.

fohat
“Fohat” can be described as the spiritual equivalent of the material or physical term “Force.” Quite simply Fohat is the “The Result of Thought.” By comparison, what we call in Physics, “Force,” is “The Result of Action.”
Light Speed is a universally defined construct accepted by modern science. If we were able to build a vehicle that was able to travel at light speed…is it reasonable to believe that the passengers and the vehicle itself would also be made of light? If light speed is indeed light speed…then only light could travel at that speed. A question then arises. How does one control a vehicle made of light, when the pilot is made of light as well. Thought is the answer. The Force of one’s thoughts. Telepathy, telekinesis, suggestion, hypnotism and possession all fall under the realm of Fohat…as does Will. Beyond Will…there is a term called “Vril.” It is practically a pseudonym for Fohat… it means “Ultimate Will” or “Universal Will.”
Mind over Matter. The ability of modern day scientist to exert control over atomic matter displays our understanding of Fohat. One day we will no longer need machines to exert control over this type of matter. It will be routine to us…the same as walking or breathing.

“The Desire Principle of a Man, often called animal soul because it is the part of man that came from the animal spectrum of consciousness. Not to be confused with Kama Rupa, which is merely the “Effect” to the “Cause” of the kama Principle...which is quite simply desire or sensuality.

Mana
“The Intellectual Principle of a Man, often called Divine Soul because it is the “Spark” of Divine consciousness given to man from The Eternal Fire known by some as “The Causeless Cause” or “Atman.” I consider Mana to be “The Second Monad” or Second unit. The Atma/Buddhi relationship being “The First monad.” Since atma and buddhi are reflection of each other they are indivisible, indispensable, and thus considered one Unit or “Monad.” Because they are Indivisible, I consider this relationship to be “Alloyed.” Mana then constitutes another monad, the two binary parts of this relationship being “higher Mana” (The Identity) & “Lower mana” (The personality). One constitutes the immortal, reincarnating, aggregating, evolving Consciousness of a man. The other constitutes the “mortal interface” that engages in this reality only. as This lower self is made of matter it is temporary, but the higher self is made of energy and it is eternal. The “Jewish” symbol know as the “Star of david” consist of two triangles. one pointed north and the other south. This symbol has its roots in “The second Monad.” It epitomizes the struggle inside “the second monad,” mana can only move in one of these directions. Upward leads to Spirituality, towards atma through Buddhi. downward leads to sensuality towards prana through kama. At the death of man, Mana splits into two parts. “Higher mana” after “breaking the shackles” of the physical Body heads upward to devachan to receive what rest and reward are due before rebirth. “Lower mana” remains on the earthly plain to become a “Vehicle” for prana…we call this vehicle “Kama Rupa.” Because of this split in mana that occurs upon death, we consider “The Second Monad” (Mana) to be only “Allied.”

Often referred to as “The Fiery Lives,” Prana is the third principle of the Septenary. It is the Driving, Building Intelligience of the universe. It is often easier for people to understand this Principle as “The Builders.” Fohat (Force) is the implementation/mixing of prana and mana, or the mingling of power and intelligience

silent knowledge
silent knowledge…sometimes called “The Language of Intent” or “Intuition.” But what is Intuition? In my understanding, there are 3 primary interprative systems utilized by the “Man” organism; however a fourth is available. the three primary systems are in evolutionary order: instinct, empathy, and reason/Logic. When all three (The Triangle) are used cooperatively…they unify into “intuition” (The Circle) or knowing without the use of language or words an all together diferent syntax.

“Sorcerer’s Revolution”
“We Honor no Agreements in which we had no participation.” The context in which Don Juan referred to was In regard to immortality. The Naguali’s regard death as an agreement, it is one in which they have no intentions of honoring. They refer to “The causeless cause” as “The Eagle” or “The Devourer of awareness.” The “nagual” believe in a process called “Recapitulation.” This process involves the unraveling of the awareness (or memories, attributes, behaviors, characteristics, skandhas) from the energetic self (Astral body or kama rupa). Essentially they believe, the higher self can be unshackled (Jail broke) from the physical self before the act of death occurs. They contend that “devourer of awareness” is merely a function of nature. That splitting of self sounds very similar to the struggle of Mana…does it not?
